Hanoi Arrival (No meal)
Upon arrival, our local guide is waiting to transfer guests to the hotel.
Hanoi – Mai Chau Lodge (B/L/D)
Depart at 8.30am from your hotel and head towards Mai Chau. The ride from Hanoi to Mai Chau takes about four hours, and you won’t be bored by the lush scenery. Around noon, you will arrive at Mai Chau Lodge and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch with the afternoon free to relax or you might like to take an optional cycling tour of the surrounding valley.
As you’ll discover, Mai Chau offers a mix of culture and adventure set against one of Vietnam’s most striking backdrops. There are waterfalls, towering limestone mountains, rice paddies, corn fields, bamboo groves and terraced tea plantations. Relax at the lodge, a rustic-but-comfortable retreat with an outdoor pool and Roman-style Jacuzzi. Enjoy a dinner of Vietnamese and international dishes, followed by traditional dancing by members of the local ethnic-minority group.
Mai Chau Lodge – Hanoi – Hoi an (B/L)
After breakfast at the lodge, you will visit the military cave after that you will take a gentle trek to Lac and Pom Coong, two villages of the Thai ethnic group. Meet the villagers and enjoy a chat over a cup of tea to learn about their culture and traditions.
This is a unique experience where you will get to peek into their homes and watch traditional farming methods up close. Finally, end your Mai Chau Valley Break with lunch at the lodge before returning to Hanoi returning late afternoon. Then follow with Transfer to Danang. Overnight in Hoian.
Hoi An – Cooking Class (B/L)
Taste the regional specialties of Hoi An and learn how they are made with a cooking class at the Red Bridge Cooking School. Start your culinary adventure with a visit to the market with a local chef who will explain all the different herbs and vegetables. Once your purchases have been made, hop aboard a boat and head to the cooking school for a hands-on lesson. With you apron on, get set to roll rice paper into spring rolls, make a claypot and slice and dice to create the beautiful garnishes that decorate the food. At the completion enjoy a delicious lunch, including what you have just prepared.
Hoi An – Danang – Flight to Ho Chi Minh City(B)
This morning take a guided walking tour of the charming town to discover a preserved pagoda, assembly hall and beautiful covered bridge – living links to Hoi An’s ancient past. After that Fly to Ho Chi Minh City. Arrivals in Saigon you will be picked up then transfer to Hotel for check in. overnight in Saigon.
Ho Chi Minh City – Vinh Long, Home stay(B/L/D)
The morning begins with a drive through the Mekong Delta to the town of Cai Be, famous for its floating markets. After touring the markets, board a private boat and cruise along the maze of waterways and canals to Vinh Long. Here, feast at the home of a Bonsai gardener for a sumptuous Delta lunch, including the popular ‘Elephant ear fish’, before continuing to explore the tributaries and canals of the Delta. Towards the end of the day, arrive at the home of a local family whose house stands on stilts over the water. The evening is spent with the family, learning about life in the Delta.
Mekong – Saigon Flight to Hanoi –Luang Prabang (B/L)
Rising to the sounds of life on the Delta, there is an early breakfast before boarding the riverboats to cruise to Vinh Long town, stopping along the way to visit local cottage industries. Then, Transfer by vehicle to the town of My Tho to visit the Vinh Trang pagoda, before returning to Ho Chi Minh City. After that transfer to airport for flight to Luangprabang.
Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Buddha Caves ( B)
Cruise up the Mekong River to the mouth of the Ou River. Visit the sacred Pak Ou Buddha Caves, long considered a holy spot for the Lao people. Locals make pilgrimages to this site to place Buddha images inside the caves to make merit. On the way, stop to visit Ban Xang Khong, where the weaving of Lao textiles still takes place on ancient wooden looms. Enjoy lunch before your return cruise back to the town early afternoon. The rest of your day is at leisure.
Luang Prabang Almsgiving – Cooking demonstration at Tamarind (B/L)
Today you will get up very early (6:00am or so) and go watch or participate in the traditional Lao rite of Almsgiving to the monks. In the city, some 300+ monks file through silently collecting alms. This is an amazing sight and your guide will be on hand to demonstrate and explain this important ritual. Afterwards, visit the Morning Market and see an array of meats, vegetables and spices the locals use in their cooking. Return to your hotel for breakfast.
This morning you will learn the secrets of Lao cuisine. Begin by visiting the colorful and vibrant Phou Si Market with an expert chef, who will help you to select the ingredients you need for the lesson. Then, collect fresh herbs from an exotic jungle garden. The chef will explain the differences between the various cuisines of Southeast Asia and distribute printed recipes so you can impress your friends at home. After the class, enjoy the delicious feast you have prepared.
Luang Prabang – Flight to Hanoi (B)
The day is at leisure until you are transferred to the airport for the flight to Ha Noi. Up on arrival at the airport you will meet up our local Guide and following with Transfer to Hotel. Overnight in Hanoi
Ha Noi – Departure (B)
You will have free time till transferred to airport for departure flight.
