That marvelous Park faced danger of devastation several times since it was formed. It was caused by enormous number of visiting tourists, and also by massive parades of elephants. Other reason in the 70’s  for the danger of devastation arises from its location, which is the original Maasai hunting area.

The problem was partially solved by incorporating the native population of the Park into touristic programs. Due to huge amount of sweet waters typical in that area, the Park is abound in animals, such as: elephants, hippopotami, buffaloes, lions, leopards, jaguars, jackals, wild dogs, hyenas and over 400 bird species.
